Product Review: Dove “Purely Pampering” Shea Butter Body Wash

IMG_4694

I bought this on a whim because my usual Dove product was out of stock.  I have to say it made my skin feel incredibly silly soft.  You know, “like buttah.”  I have no clue if this is a seasonal item or a short term trial product, but I am glad it crossed my path.  After using it, I didn’t feel the need to apply much lotion either.  I have been only using it a few days but out of 7 days, I will break up the routine with a body scrub body wash.  I wouldn’t want all the shea butter to clog any pores, which does happen.  Body acne and blackheads are no joke!

How often do you change from your usual routine?  Which products do you like to throw in from time to time?

Every Day Is Earth Day

IMG_0927

Every day should be Earth Day.  We should always be aware of maintaining the world around us, and preserving it for the next generation.  Instead of just planting a tree today, donate throughout the year to plant trees and start your own garden.  It’s not just a trend, it is your way of making a positive impact on our vast earth.  We only have one, let’s protect it!

What are some of the things you do in your area to preserve and protect?

Business Cards for Blogs?

I have been going back and forth on the idea of having business cards made for my blog.  There are events that I will be attending soon, and want to utilize networking opportunities with more of a reminder than only mentioning the name of my blog.  Business cards can be high quality, inexpensive, and leave a strong statement.  I will probably do a test with it and post again in a few months whether I found the cards have increased new and recurring traffic patterns or they stayed the same.

What I plan on adding to the card:  Blog name, tag line, contact number, email, specifically my Twitter social media handle, and blog address.  Why Twitter?  I feel that is the most powerful social media avenue out there.  I think it’s a lot better, more profitable, and you are able to maintain better contact with current readers, current clients, future clients, and future readers.  The hashtags are impressive and important too.  If you aren’t utilizing all that Twitter has to offer, definitely dive in to it!

To add a picture or not:  I know that a lot of people add their picture now on business cards but I’m ambivalent toward that.  I feel there are enough images of me connected to my project. I say, let them find out on their own.  That’s a big drawback that I don’t like about Linked In actually.  I feel that having your picture attached with your resume hurts the process more than it helps.  Employers are free to discriminate easier than ever these days.  You might be the best fit for a position or company and they don’t like the way you style your hair or some other factor and boop – you’re thrown in the trash pile.  It happens a lot more than you realize.  I feel this extends to the online market as well.  Like all things, there is subjectivity, but I think everyone should get a fair shake at first.

Layout & Design:  I want to use something colorful but is clean and professional at the same time.  I would hate for someone to receive a card and they can barely make out any of the info because I went too crazy with any graphics or colors.  Clarity is key.

I’m a fan of Vistaprint because of their quality & cost but  I am always open to new suggestions too.

Have you used business cards or are you considering using them?  If so, which service do you order them through?

Weekend Adventures

I hope you had a great, safe, and adventurous weekend!  Saturday night I visited the restaurant Divan Turkish Grill.  It has a small intimate feel, hookah, great food, and drinks.  It’s also a BYOB!  You can’t beat that right? It’s located right off 6th and South Street in South Philly.  If you’re in the area traveling or live there and are tired of the usual, check them out.

Saturday night they had a DJ who ended up playing The Smiths after some negotiations, and a nice size group having a great time.  This is the side of Philly I enjoy.  I ended up wearing all black – black off the shoulder top, leggings, black boots with silver accessories.

I’ve had this top for years and love it.  I just wish the bottom was more fitted.  I’ve added belts to it in the past but the top isn’t cut properly for it.

This is a closeup of my necklace.  I rarely get to wear it because it’s a bit too super fancy for grocery shopping at Target, even though it’s costume jewelry.  I figured I’d break it out for a night out downtown.  Yeah, those are bra straps because strapless bras absolutely suck no matter your size.  I configured a bra to become a halter style bra and let the shown straps become part of the outfit.

My very delicious cosmo!  It’s my favorite drink.

A bit of the background of the place and my super serious conversation face.  It got intense.  haha

I hope you had some fashionably good fun this weekend!

Product Review: Suave Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion

IMG_4558

I got a free sample of Suave’s Moroccan Infusion Body Lotion recently and I have to say it’s amazing.  It moisturizes very well, light weight on my skin, and you don’t have to use a lot to achieve results.  This winter has been harsh on my skin and my elebows and feet have suffered, but this product has made both areas, and all my curves  feel smooth again.  They also have this product in a body oil spray that I haven’t tried that yet.  I’m sure that would work just as well, especially for the price.

The only drawback is the smell.  It’s not a bad smell but I’m not really a fan of it.  The Moroccan oil in the product is pungent, but I find it’s worth putting up with for silky, smooth skin.  It retails for under $5 for the bottle too.  Not bad at all, right?  I know a lot of people scoff at Suave brand but you might be pleasantly surprised at how much they have changed as a brand over the years.

If you have tried it, let me know what you think!
