You may hear the phrase being thrown around now Fall Fashions and feel like everyone is jumping the gun when it’s still too hot outside to do anything. Let me guide you through some easy fashion transition tips that will help unclutter your closet, but also re-use a lot of your Summer favorites for the rest of the year. This is the time of the Summer when most, if not all Summer items are going on sale. Not just a 10-20% savings, we’re talking almost 50% off the retail price. Most stores are getting their Fall items now, and will get their Winter items at the end of August here in the states. What does this mean for us? Aside from a bathing suit, you can stock up on a lot of great items that can turn into great layering pieces as the weather cools down.
This afternoon, I was in celebration of my friends marriage. My dress is off the rack from Burlington Coat Factory, and my shoes are Guess. I bought this a while ago, but it is turning into my go-to for semi formal events. I love it!
Don’t let anyone tell you it’s impossible to find stylish clothes that fit a curvy body. Need help finding great items? I will gladly help you!
I’ve been asked quite a few times as to why I don’t routinely post any OOTD’s (Outfit of the day). The main reason is, it’s unnecessary. I want to avoid alienating any woman or make someone feel like they aren’t en vogue because they chose to go in a different direction than I did on that particular day. Fashion is art and incredibly subjective. It changes constantly and colors flatter some and wash out others. Fashion should empower you no matter what. If you put on that dress and can walk into a room full of strangers and feel like a Goddess, work the shit out of it! Own it. Make it yours, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
My only suggestion is there is a time and place for everything. The good Lord doesn’t need to see your best club wear, and neither does your employer or Gram-Gram. Have some fun, take a few chances and remember to be yourself. That’s the best fashion advice anyone can give you.
As much as I love to dress, style my hair, pile on makeup and do my nails – I really don’t dress up on the actual holiday. You know what? I don’t think you should either. We work ourselves to the bone the rest of the year and deserve to sleep in, wake up looking a mess, make a huge mug of coffee and relax in our best pajamas. This is what the holidays are really about. Sit around, eat, socialize with family, eat some more then simply sit back and take it all in. I see so many people stressed out because they didn’t iron their table clothes the right way, or they have to settle for using plastic plates instead of fine china as a table setting because their wondrous set was missing a piece. All the fancy dresses, accessories and such, save it for those special holiday parties.
You know what I’m wearing to my Thanksgiving meal? Leggings, fake uggs, a long sleeve tunic top, throwing my hair in a bun and calling it a day. I’m all about comfort and functionality. Who wants to suffer through a delicious meal in constricting jeans? Ugh, I hate denim!
If you do get dressed up, I hope you look fantastic and all your effort was worth it! Remember to pair your gravy stain on your top with the appropriate wine stain. You would hate to appear gouache when Thanksgiving meal hopping today.
Stay safe & be thankful!!
